Access 97 append queries.

I've got an access append query appending a small amount of records to a SQL table. Thing is, whenever i append them, the records seem to become locked and will not allow me to edit them ("The record has been changed by another user since you started editing.&quot Thing is, it's not live and i'm the only user. I can add records manually fine, it's only when i run a query on it. Microsoft say it's the ODBC refresh interval being set too high, but i've tried setting it to 1 (from 1500) and it's still doing it.

Any ideas please? (Before this pc goes through the window)

Hurrah, after week of bashing my head it works. For some reason, adding a timestamp field into my SQL table unlocks it. No idea why.
