I have an Access 7.0 file which is used my an application on our network which we would like access it from a SQL Server 2000 database but are currently having little success.

At the moment we have tried to create a ODBC connection to the the access file using a standard Access driver. Then creating a linked server to that connection from SQL Server.

This doesn't work unless I convert the file to Access 9.0 which then stops it working in the original application.

I have tried looking for an older version of Access driver without any success, and in desperation have reinstalled the latest version of MDAC.

If anyone has any suggestions I would gratefully appreciate them.

Have just managed to sort this, turned out to be a problem with permissions of all things.
