Not sure this is the correct forum for this question, but I'll try it anyway. The question is for users of Access 2007.

A friend of mine recently upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007. The main problem he has encountered is security issues when trying to open a database in 2000 format (the default format for 2003 database files).

Are there other issues of which anyone is aware?

Are there benefits to using Access 2007?

Thanks.

Tom

The security issues, I believe, are easily overcome under:

->Office Button
-->Access Options
--->Trust Center
---->Trust Center Settings
----->Macro Settings

Or upon each time opening the database, you have to enable all content - should be a little doohicky bar at top of the database, similar to what shows in Internet Explorer when you try to download a file.

There are also a few things in VBA that don't work the same anymore from previous versions to Access 2007.

For advantages, I think once you get used to it, Access 2007 is actually a little easier to work in than previous versions. Also, if you like to customize user forms, you can use the new Layout View to have a better idea of what your form will look like, instead of only Design View. I still persoanlly almost always prefer design view, but I can see where Layout View would be preferable at times.

You say
Code:

Do you know where I can find a list of the VBA code differences?

The reason I posted this in the first place was that I designed a database for the local Kiwanis club, and my friend is a Kiwanian and the user of the database. Once he set the security stuff in the manner you suggest things seem to be working correctly, but there is lots of VBA code behind the scenes and I will have to figure out what to do if the database breaks down. Maybe there's a way I can head off problems by changing some pieces of code now.
