I have an Access 2007 database with an attachments facility. Currently the client may upload files locally but the files cannot be accessed elsewhere. I have been able to carry out a similar operation when developing on a web based system however I cannot seem to do it on an Access 2007 database and I am unsure as to whether it is even possible. Basically the system needs to connect to the SQL server online and upload the file although the database is not online itself. I would be grateful for any pointers!

Thanks,
Rebecca

Where does the Access 2007 database reside?
Where does the SQL Server database reside?
Can you query one from the other?

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

I am not actually the one working on it and the person who is isn't in the office at the moment however I believe there is not currently an SQL server for this client but we want to set one up just for the attachments feature. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks,
Rebecca

Ok - if you are storing your atytachments as BLOB files then it should be pretty simple to transfer that data to any SQL Server database you choose as long as the SQL Server database can query data out of the Access database whether real time or a daily / weekly load routine

Ok I will test this out and may come back to you with more questions if it doesn't work! Thanks for your tips.
