Access 2007 table problems

I just updated from Access 2003 to Access 2007 and now I can't create a table with more than 43 fields! When I add more then 43 fields, and try to save my work, I get the "Too many fields defined" error (Error 3190).

Has anyone run into this problem and if so, did you find a solution?

Have you done a compact and repair?

No. It's a brand new database and new table - no data... should I have to compact & repair already?

Probably not. You mentioned an upgrade, so I though the database was an existing database.
