Hello All

Is the Startup procedure still available in Access 2007? Although it recognises my previous startup procedures from Access 2003, I am unable to modify this procedure, even after saving under the new file format.

Does the Startup procedure still exist in Access 2007?

Open the database while holding down the shift key. Then:
1. Click the Microsoft Office Button (upper left corner)
2. Click the Access Options button in the bottom right corner of the menu that appears
3. Click the Current Database category on the left side of the Access Options dialog box
4. Under Application Options section look for the option called "Display Form." Select your form name from the combo box
5. Click Ok to close the Access Options
6. The next time you open the database your form will load on Startup

Hope this helps. Now I have a question for you: when you launch Access 2007 from the Start button, how do you get it to launch without first getting the introductory screen display that has "Getting Started with Microsoft Office Access" across the top? Thanks for your help.

Drisconsult: To augment batteam's answer, Bob Larson has a picture tutorial at this link:
batteam: If you don't mind saying, why do you want to bypass the "Getting Started with Microsoft Office Access" screen if you are not opening a database? Is it causing problems?

Hello RuralGuy

My reason for asking for this is that I am writing a textbook on Access 2007 for UK GCSE examinations. I use Hijaak to capture all my screenshots and cannot capture the screenshot that you have used, namely, the Access Options screen. Every time I get ready to capture, it disappears. I have tried Corel Capture and many others, all fail to capture this screen. Any ideas?

I've never ever used anything but PrintScreen or Alt+PrintScreen, then just get rid of unnecessary parts through a picture editing program - even MS Paint, and paste in Word...

Hello RoyVidar

Well I've just finished a book for Macmillan Education with a target audience of east, west and central Africa. I have nearly 500 screenshots in that book. I have successfully captured all multiple-layer drop-down boxes with Hijaak and use it because it provides a real professional outcome.

The Access 2007 Office Button screen is the only one I cannot capture, all other menus and drop-down combo boxes are no problem.

Hello RuralGuy

Tried a trial version of Snagit it and it worked. I was able to capture the illusive Office Button. Hijaak is still my program of choice but I will buy Snagit and keep it for that special capture. Please thank Bob for me.

Will do. Glad you got it sorted.

I don't think that this is what most people are looking for with this question. Forgive me if I'm wrong.
I used Access 2003 and was easily able to start the database with only the form that I wanted showing. It was like the database was a standalone program. Now, with Access 2007, it seems that this cannot be done.
I've been searching all over the internet for this answer, and everyone answers the same way. They say to go to the MS Office button in the corner, click on "current database", and select the form you want to open on startup. But that does really nothing except open a form within Access. I want to open the form without all of the other Access baggage that goes along with it, like the tool bars, menus, etc. All I want is the database itself.
If you know how to do that, I'd love to hear it.

very simple. make whats called an Auto Exec Macro. in 2007 go to the create tab and then macro. under the action, click open form. and in the arugments section, fill it out. then name it AutoExec. that should make the form start up when you access the database

this does the same thing as going into the current database options and changing it that way. I was wondering how i could open my database without any of access's menus or sidebars, just the database in its own window without access

you would need Access Runtime to get no menues sidebars or anything. you will just get the form
