I am having formatting issues in Access 2007. This is the first time I've tried using it. I am trying to move around my header labels but they keep moving the text boxes with them.

I can't delete a label without the text box also deleting. Is there a way to disconnect the two? I can't find anything in help.

thanks.

You can move them separately. I don't know all the nuances, but try grabbing the gray-ish box in the upper right corner of the control (or the label) when it is selected in design view, and move it that way. If that doesn't work, move the label that way.

One last thing: Sometimes I wonder; "Is that someone's signature? Or do they type that at the end of each post?

*upper left* not upper right..sorry

Don't know about 2007 because I don't have it, but every version prior you could select the label, "cut" it and the "paste" it back in....and this would "unattach" the label from the control.

The grayish thing only shows up when I add a text box to the report. I created this report with the wizard, so it put the labels in the page header. There are no gray boxes.

Also when I "Cut", it also cuts the text box. I have to delete the whole thing, and add a new text box and reset the control source.

Is there a way to turn this feature off?

Sorry I misunderstood. (I do that). Didn't realize you were working with a tabular layout.

Would setting their visible property to false suit your needs? And then make new, unrelated labels?

I don't know what the proper answer to your question is, but I would also like to know.

Select the controls.

On the Arrange tab, in the Control layout group, click Remove.

I found a way around it, by deleting both, adding the field, deleting the label (because it shows up in the body with the textbox), then add a label to the header. I can connect the two after if I want.

Lillabeth, I don't see the control layout for the report? That is on forms only. In the Report design there is Controls, but no Remove option.

On the Office 2007 ribbon, commands are arranged into groups. When you are in a report (or a form), in Design View on the Arrange tab is a group of commands named Control Layout.

The tools include Tabular, Stacked, Remove, Control Margins, Control Padding, Snap to Grid, and Tab Order. The Group and Ungroup tools are also in this group of commands.
Remove doesnt remove the controls, it removes the layout.

Again, this is a report in Design View. On the Arrange tab. It is to the right of the AutoFormat group.

Oh I see it! thanks.

I clicked on a field (Header label and text below it), and clicked it and it didn't remove them, but then everything to the right of it moved over on top of it.

This is very different from 2000. I don't think I like it LOL

thanks.
