Access 2007 adds square brackets around field names with spaces in them when you create an append query but won't run the query until you go through and remove the brackets. Is there a fix for this? Thanks.

Should be posted in Microsoft: Access Queries and JET SQL.

If your field names have spaces in them, then when you reference them in code, they must have [ ] around them. That is the syntax of VBA. Also, that is why your field names should not have spaces. You should get in the habit of using an underscore if you want to separate words, eg. Right_Turn.

I don't see how the append query is running without the brackets. Maybe you could post, in the correct forum, an example of your SQL.

OK I'll ask over there. I agree the spaces should be avoided but the field names have to be exactly as they are for the "Big Company's" database to make sense of the data. The mainframe does not like changes you know.
