Bizarre problem arose this morning.

I have developed a A2003 db project and deployed it to another office running A2002.

The project consists of a backend mdb file containing data tables, a development mdb file from which an "mde" file is created for end users.

The mdb data file opens perfectly with A2002
The mde file reports an unrecorgnized file format and suggests upgrading the version of Access.

Anyone know why this should be? is there a known version conflict with the creation of the mde file in 2003 that A2002 does not like?

Any hints appreciated.

For me a mde file should be open with the same veersion of access than the original mdb.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Not sure if I get you, are you saying that I should use the 2003 development mdb to create the new "mde" on their 2002 version in situ?

ie.
create mde using 2003 for running with 2003 version
and
create mde using 2002 for running with 2002 version

that would mean that because we don't run with 2002 (97 & 2003 only) I will have to provide the development file to them which I did not really want to do.

Have now returned to the other office (5 mins walk) and created the MDE from my 2003 Development mdb using their 2002 version. All has worked fine.

As you said before, only use an MDE file with the same version that created it!

Thanks
