Is it possible to insert handwriting (ie signature) into access 2003 form from my tablet pc? ASUS tablet is running the access database no problem, but won't accept a handwritting input into any text box I can put on a form.

You may have some luck with the Ink Picture control that comes as part of the Tablet SDK. There's an article on MSDN about validating digital signatures.

We could be confused in exactly the same way, but confusion might be like Nulls, and not comparable.

How are ya PL01 . . .

To be sure ... [blue]hand written signatures are a graphics[/blue] ... not text! For several clients in the past, I would scan their signatures then scale them for different size fonts (8, 10,12).

Access 2010 is supposed to handle it no problem, but it seems beyone 2003.

PL01 . . .

My point is ... even in 2010 ... you can only put a graphic in a [blue]Graphic Object[/blue], not a textbox!

...does 2003 have a the possibility of creating a graphic object? I know I can reference image files; but inserting directly from a signature box on a tablet is off my radar...

PL01 . . .

Access has 3 graphic objects ... [blue]Image[/blue], [blue]Bound[/blue] & [blue]UnBound[/blue] Object Frames. Unless you can somehow get a graphic file out of the signature, using these controls is academic.

I've never used a tablet but a search on the internet, relating your problem as a question, produced the following URL which I found extremely informative:

Creating a User Control to Capture Signatures on a Tablet PC

At the very least ... it should steer you in the direction you seek. The only downfall is that it appears to be quite involved ... but [blue]doable![/blue] I expect a library to be available to handle the [blue]InkSecureSignature[/blue] Object.

[blue]Your Thoughts? . . .[/blue]

...access 2010 will do it for me, but thanks.

Boy is that complex! Just to get a signature in a text or image box. There should be a more direct way to do it with Access directly instead of writing code for Windows itself.

...to continue on a bit with this. I am using the new ASUS tablet. When the virtual key board is called onto the screen it gives you a choice for a key board or a signature pad. If you select the signature pad and write in it, the tablet attempts to translate the handwriting into type on Word or some such program. But nothing happens when the virtual keyboard/signature pad is called from an Access control box. At the computer center they told me Access 2010 would be able to handle this. But even reviewing the new release info on Access 2010 there is nothing about such a control or text box in the "whats new" faqs.
