Access 2003 shuts down when field is added to form 1

I'm trying to add a new field to a form. The form is built off of a table. However, when I open the form, change the view to design view, open the list of fields, and add the field to the form, the Access 2003 project shuts down with the error message: "Microsoft Office Access has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." How do I debug/fix this problem?

I would.
1)Create a new database
2)Use the import feature to import all objects into the new db. (tables, forms, reports, queries, code)
3)Compact and repair
4)Debug and compile
5)If you still have problems with the form, rebuild the form from scratch.
