I just installed OFFICE 2003 PRO. I want to export various ACCESS 2003 tables to EXCEL spreadsheets and DBF format but I DO NOT SEE either of these options listed in the "Save as type:" window.

what am i missing? do i need to install additional converters?

Nope. Once you create the query, save it, then "export" it. When you export, it gives you an option of file type to save it to.

Also, you can create a query, run it, then "send to" an email address (your own if you like!) That will also request for you to select a file type.

Hope this helps!
