Hi,
I have a problem with a Access 2002 that I hope someone can help me with. When I exit Access all appears to be fine. The screen will go and the LDB file is no longer present. However I still have MSACCESS.EXE running on my process list. I cannot start Access now until I kill the process.

The dB is located on a network drive. I am using Windows XP sp 1.

If any one can offer advice I would be grateful. Is this a know MS bug? I have looked at the MS web site and cannot find any thing relating to this.

ADWoods.

There is a bug in Access 97 that causes behaviour somewhat like this. In the A97 case the database closes and I think the .ldb file goes away but, the Access window simply minimizes to the task bar and can't be closed. This behaviour is caused by coded object variables not be properly disposed. When I have gotten it in the past it has been due to forgetting to set Recordset or database object variables = Nothing.
I also remember vaguely some bug about evaluating Boolean variables inferentially. ie. having some code that says...

If boolFlag then
some code
end if

... rather that explicitly like...

if boolFlag = true then
some code
end if

don't know if either of these will help...

I had the same problem and I had absolutely no success until I upgraded to MS Office XP from MS Office 2000. I tried everyone's suggestions to no avail. My application now works perfectly. I no longer get locked out.

Hi Mistereli,

That is odd as I am currently running Office XP sp1. It seems to affect all users in my office. We all currently run Office XP SP1. Can you tell me what Service pack you are using.

Thanks, Andrew.

I did not download the service pack (1). And from the problems that your running into - I don't think I will!
