Access 2002 to 97 DAO Conversion Issues

I am developing in Access 2002 (file format of Access 2000) and saving down to Access97. None of the DAO Objects are being recognized "Dim Db as Database", does anyone know a reason why?? The Tools..References option on the client's Access 2000 is greyed out as well, so i can't check the Library Registrations Any Suggestions? thanks.
