Hello,

I have set up my Sysbase servers and pinged them to ensure I have connectivity. I have created an ODBC connection to these Sysbase servers pointing to the specific database I am trying to connect to.

When I an in Access 2002-2003 I import external data-->Link Tables and select the connection already created & tested.

The error occurs when I select a specific table to connect to. The error that pops up is: "Reserved error (-7748); there is no message for this error.". When I click on the Help button in the error message popup, I get this:

"Reserved error <Item>; there is no message for this error. (Error 3000)
An unexpected error occurred. The specified code identifies the conditions under which this error can occur. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for more information."

Any ideas??

Which version of Sybase? Are you using the correct ODBC drivers for connecting to it?

Does that "specific table" have any unusual data types? This rings bells but I can't recall exactly what. Sure it was something to do with a data type. I'm sure I discovered this by creating a copy of the table and removing fields until the bugger worked....

Sorry can't recall specifics atm, but maybe this will help,

Hi,

I am using Sysbase 12.5 I am connecting via ODBCL Sysbase ASE ODBC driver 4.20.00.15. Using DSEDIT in Sysbase, I have set up the server connections and I am able to successfully ping and connect.

I have set up a system DSN and again was able to test the connection successfully.

It is only when I am in Access 2002-2003 and I am trying to link to a specific table that I get this error.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

Hi Eshie,

Did you get a fix for this? I'm trying to use Sysbase ASE ODBC driver and I'm getting the same error. I am able to link successfully using a different driver so I know its the driver, and not anything else.

Thank you Remou!!!!! I modified my ODBC.ini as instructed in the link you posted, rebooted and it WORKED!

THANKS AGAIN!
