Access 2002 and linked tables

Hi everyone,
I have developed a system using Access 97. I plan to upgrade to XP so i have XP setup on a pc, converted my Access 97 databases to 2002 (copies of course) and I'm ready to start testing. I notice however, that i can't re-create my MDE's as it's grayed out. I get the feeling there is something i'm missing. Can anyone help ?
