I don't know whether this is an error or not, possibly the mdb has corrupted. I have a database with multiple workgroup permissions set up - a general one which locks out a lot, and a developer one which grants full edit permissions. Usually when this has been set up with other mdb's, and you try opening the database normally it comes up with the name and password box. However with this database it is going straight in and opens with the developer window open. It is seemingly completely ignoring the workgroup permissions set up on it. I have tried resetting them but it still does the same.

Has anyone else experienced this? Has the mdb corrupted and if so what is a good way to fix? Can I import the contents into a new mdb with working security? Or import into an unsecure mdb and set up again? Please help if you can, cheers

Sounds like your MDW file is not being called at all.

Try a command line of the form:

[Location of Access Exe] [Location of db] /wrkgrp [Location of mdw]

e.g.

"c:\program files\office\msaccess.exe" "c:\my dbs\db1.mdb" /wrkgrp "c:\my dbs\secure.mdw"

As an aside, the fact that the db opens up without any warning suggests to me that either it hasn't been secured very well or that the default Admin account has full priv's - this isn't a very good idea as it means anyone can get into the db with full admin privs using just a default system.mdw file.
