Hi,
A couple months ago, I installed Office 2000 Pro on my computer. I kept my old Office 97 (since I need both versions), but I installed in separate program directories, so that shouldn't be the issue.

When programming in Excel or Word 2000, if I go into help in the VBE, the help for VBA for Excel or Word pops up. But when I'm programming in Access 2000 and go into help in the VBE, the generic VBA helpfile appears, which gives no information on Access objects!

I checked my Office 2000 help directory (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 2000\Office\1033\) and I found the following VBA helpfiles:
Vbagrp9.chm
VbaOff9.chm
VbaOutl9.chm
Vbappt9.chm
Vbawrd9.chm
Vbaxl9.chm
.. and I found all their corresponding .aw files.

I also found an Acvba9.aw file. What I was not able to find was an Acvba9.chm file!

I tried reinstalling Office 2000. I tried looking on the CD for the help file (I found all the other help files on the CD, but not that one! Is the CD just missing that helpfile? If so, does anybody have it? Could you please email it? My address is katerine@chorus.net

I cannot emphasize how much this slows me down. I really depend on those help files for things I do not know, or things I need refreshers on.. :-(

Thanks! Katie
Hi! I'm currently studying the COM+ programming model. Hopefully YOU'RE having fun, which would make one of us..

I also have both A97 and A2000 installed. I also found ACVBA9.AW, but there is no ACVBA9.CHM anywhere on my C: drive. Nevertheless, I have no trouble getting the Access specifics for VBA.

Try selecting the DoCmd object in the Object Browser, then pressing the Help (?) button. If you get appropriate help, you're not missing anything. If you don't you should get a message telling you which help file is missing.

Mind you, when you're using Access you get different help files from the Help menu depending on whether you're in the Access window or the VB Editor window. I've noticed that at times I have to close the help file, switch windows, and bring up help again to find what I need. If that's what's happening to you, I think it's a traditional "this behavior is by design". Don't ask me why they didn't merge the help indexes; I wish they had. Rick Sprague
