Hi Good Folks!

Hope you're all well and happy.

As usual running a software generation behind and as always having got lost on the MS site! LOL ...

If I write a database using Access 2000, will I have problems transeferring it to the customer's system running Office XP.

Many thanks

LRH

You should not have a problem. According to Smart Computing Learning series "Introducing Office XP" Access 2002 uses a more efficient file format that even has format options, to ensure file compatibilty and prevent conversion problems. What this means is that as long as a file is in 2000 you can edit and make design changes or choose to convert to 2002. New files are saved in 2000 by default unless you change the settings in Tools-Options. So the versions are much more interchangeable then before. Access 2002 will now also create an error log incase there are conversion problems. Dawn

Many thanks, Dawn.

That's a great help and reassurance ... I still have nightmares over past 97/2000 corruptions!!! s-)

Hello Dawn, hello LittleRedHat,

I have read the posting related access 2000/xp conversion, especially your rereply littleredhat. We corrently in discussions aubot migrating from Access97 to Access xp in an mixed environment. Could you give me some hints about the corruptions from 97 to 2000, 'cause access 2000 is still in discussion, too.

greeting

Hi Lutz99,

I'm afraid I'm not the best person for asking ... I only work on databases very small scale. Most of my skirmishes have been limited to combo boxes and assorted queries that read as if they had converted ok, but wouldn't play the game.

Perhaps you could also try a posting in the Access General Discussion Forum.

Sorry I'm no help. :-(

Wishing you luck ...

LRH

Hello LittleRedHat,
thx for posting. I will try a new thread. Thx.

Hi Lutz99, I don't think I know enough about it either. I posted what I had read about it, but not yet experienced for myself.
