I have an MS Access 2000 program that is being distributed as a runtime version using the Package and Deployment Wizard. I have had a few people contact me with installation problems. The program is being installed on various flavors of machines running from Win95 to XP - though I don't have a sense so far of this error happening on any one flavor of machine. The last error was on a Win98 machine.
The error occurs during the first part of the install when several (6) DLL's and system files are copied to the machine prior to the Access Runtime install (if necessary) and the actual program install.
The error message reads:
C:\Windows\System\stdole2.tlb
The destination file is write protected
You get two options - Abort or Retry.
Retry just keeps redisplying the message. Abort continues the installation.
The program seems to run OK but I am wondering why this is occurring and if there is anything I can do to prevent it from occurring. It's also disconcerting to the users when they see this message.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Dave
