Access 2000-problem linking .jpg files

I am displaying images in my report by linking them to a path I've stored in a table. I am using VB code to look at the table and find the specific path for each record, which then pulls the image into the report. This works for bitmap files only. I get a run-time error saying that "Access does not support the file format for .jpg files". I've checked to make sure that my graphics filters are installed for all images files. They are. Does anyone have and idea of what could be causing this problem? I have the same problem with .gif, .tif, etc. Bitmaps are too difficult to work with and too big of a file. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
