Access 2000 - Not in list message of combo box

I want to stop the "Not In List" message of a combo box when data that is not in the list is entered, and replace this message with one of my own.

I am able to get my message to display in response to entering data that is not in the list but Access' "Not in List" message pops up after the user responds to mine.
