Access 2000 Import Problem

Hello,

Can someone explain the problem I am having with Importing Excel spreadsheets into an Access 2000 database? When attempting to import a spreadsheet, it just hangs and does nothing.

The Access 98 Import function worked great, but I have not been able to import an Excel speadhsset in 2000.

Is it me or is this a bug in 2000?

It could be either you or a bug. What have you tried in order to trouble-shoot?

Well, a few things...

- Install the latest and greatest Microsoft patch for Office 2000 (sp4) -- sp3 and sp4 addressed a lot of problems for me.
- Resources. If you are low on memory or diskspace, and the spreadsheet is large, you may be running / have run out of resources. Clean up TEMP files, and make sure you have 256 or preferably more memory.

Try the import on another similar workstation.

I am not the only one experiencing this problem, this is happening with several of my co-workers. I don't think the memory is an issue, I am pretty sure I have enough on both my work and home computers.

I have tried importing a small amount of data and that did not work. I have tried converting the xls file to dbf and txt that also did not work. I even tried reloading the application and that did not work.

I am going to try downloading the patches. Hopefully the patches will resolve the problem.
