Hi! I'm about to convert an Access 2000 database to SQL Server. I've already posted elsewhere, so rather than rehashing the whole situation, I hope you dont' mind if I simply put alink to it?

Any help would be most appreciated!

Ooops, that link doesn't work...

Hi there,

I'm an Access developer. I have a multi user database sitting on a server that users log into using a workgroup file (they have a shortcut on their desktops that links them to Access, the front end database and the security file).

I have a front end that is fully automated using VBA programming (links into Outlook, Excel, Word, etc) that each person gets installed on their local machine, and that file links to the backend file on the server, which everyone shares (about 10-15 users, will be international at some point soon).

I have been asked to migrate this database to a SQL Server which is located in New York. I am in London. I'm not involved in the hardware side of things at all.

Does anyone have any pointers, suggestions or things to watch out for with regards to how this may affect my database? I'm still going to be using Access as the front end. It's just the backend that will migrate. And I'll be getting the SQL Server 2000 database software on this machine.

I really would appreciate any pearls of wisdom about this that anyone can offer me.

:0) Have a good day, and thanks in advance.
