Hi,

I have an Office 2000 built access DB.

Essentially, when it is opened with Access from XP office, it crashes when simple VB code is executed, and thus restarts itself.

If someone has encountered this problem, could you describe any solutions implemented to prevent this?

Thanks in advance,

Benzo

benzo1,
Can you provide any additional information on the error messages you are receiving and the specific code that is causing it to crash?

Steve,
Converting a database is not always a viable solution. Sometimes we need to preserve backward compatability, especially if we are supporting users under both versions of Access.

When you open an Access mdb, created with an earlier version of access, you should open a code window and select compile. If the new version of access detects problems, it might show up here. If you copy any forms, reports or modules, you should immediately open the code window and compile.

It seems that Access 2000 and Access XP get very unhappy when the code has not been compiled at least once.

I assume that you have also tried compact and repair, but I will mention it incase you forgot.

The last trick might be to create a new, blank database and then import all tables, forms, queries (Import everything) from your old database to the new one you just created. Then compile. Sometimes a bad (thingy) in the old/original access mdb will go away by doing this.

Hope One of these solves your problems,
