I created a database in Access 2000.  I then compacted the DB and then I converted it to Access 97 renaming it V97.  My user was able to open the DB but only by holding down the shift key, and then could not access the main input form.  I had code for an open event which I removed.  He still could not open the form.  The error message he was getting was This Program has performed an illegal operation.  I hate that!!!  Any ideas?

Hi Magnolia,<br><br>Has your friend applied the office patch's to Access 97,<br>with out at least the first office patch SR1 access is a little prone to this gpf error on w95a,b,c and NT4 patch 6.<br>(that i know of)<br>there could be other causes<br>you may also try to recompile the code with access97 could have some strange code in a module left over from the access 2000 conversion.<br><br>see ya<br>RobertD<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
