I have converted an Access97 app to Access 2000, the problem is the database now reacts like a dog. Anything I try to do when in design mode seems to hang the machine, opening toolbars, modifying code, it sometimes takes 1 minute to react.

I've tried importing the data into a new database, that doesn't work. I don't want to rewrite it HELP!

You said that you imported the data into a new database. Will the database still function correctly in Access 97 now?

When importing into Access 2000, have you imported all the objects? Queries, Forms, Reports, Macros, Modules etc?

How much code was written in the Access 97 version? It is possible that the VB functions are no longer working for you and are converting themselves at time of use. I would suggest reviewing your code and verifying that all the objects are compliant - not "converted".

It has been my experience that "converting" the database causes more headaches than it is worth.

Good Luck - Depending upon the size of the application and the operating system, I have been able to work very satisfactorily on a PII 400 with 128MB. I watch how many other apps I have running in the background though.

I haven't checked it out yet but someone has suggested that the NT4 service packs need to be the same on the server and workstations. The database works fine on a standalone machine. Thanks for your help
