I have a word file linked to a form in access 2000 as an icon, double click the icon to open word and the document. If I go into word and set the save options to read-only recommended the file opens fine when directly opened in word. Word askes me if I want to open it as read only. If I access the file from the link in access then I am not asked if I want to open the file as read only. The file is opened and can be changed as a normal word doc. There is also a password set in the save options to (password to modify) and access ignors this. If u use word to open the file directly all the options set work properly, stopping users from changing the file inadvertantly. Access somehow is bypassing these attributes.
I hope that I have been able to explain my problem clearly.

Thanks for any help in advance.
