Access 1998 --> 2000

I've just installed Office 2000 on my laptop (previously I was using '98). However, now I cannot access the database that I had created in '98...it won't let me open it in 2000 saying that 'the current user does not have permission to convert or enable the database'...any ideas as to how I can get into it?
