Hi,

I am trying to access the CMS datasource using Crystal so that I can see where all the reports and instances are stored. For some reason my INPUT and OUTPUT services have stopped and need to gain access to the original report so thought I could build a report from the database.

Has anybody tried this. I can see the tables in the datasource, but have no database schema to see where all the information is stored.

Hi,
The reports are NOT in the CMS database, just coded info about where they are located..Even if your FRS servers stopped, you should be able to use the CMC to see where they 'pointed'...Restarting them should restore your ability to get the reports; If not, the directories indicated in the configuration wil have the reports stored there but they will be almost impossible to identify, since they are renamed by CE when published and buried several subdirectories down fro the FRS/Input or Output root.

Hi Turkbear,

Thanks for you reply. My initial problem is that my input and output services will not start, I have tried restarting all services, but still fail to start.

I am using CE10 Professional. I have applied all the latest patches. These services used to work, but have recently stopped, is there any way in which I can attempt some trouble shooting.

My other option to get around this is to attempt the following.

New installation of CE10 on Test Server. Copy the Input and Output folders from the current server to the test server overwritting the folders. Using the CMS database, choose Select a Data Source, and choose 'Copy data from another Data Source'. I will then copy the database details from the Current server and load these to a new database for the test server.

My understanding is that when I now open ePortfolio on the TEST server I should be able to see all the reports and instances. Do you know whether this will work. This is only a temp solution until I can get the original server working.

I look forward to your kind advises.

"These services used to work, but have recently stopped..."

Maybe the password for account that these services run under has expired?

Check the Event log (assuming Windows).

I am using the admin account for all the services, the rest are working, but the input and output are not.

Error messages from the event viewer.

Anybody any ideas to check this out.

Your CMS started after the file repository servers? (notice the Time). Try, on the file repository servers, adding a dependency on the CMS.

Really they should still start up though, so it might be something else, can you think of anything that has changed on this server (I'm assuming it's a single server install?). Try re-entering the user/password anyway.
