Accesing New Query fields from existing Reports

Hello

I have created a query in Access to output certain fields.
I have then created a report say report1 based on this query. If I then go back and add new fields to the query, I can't access these fields in report1 even though report1 can see these new fields through control source and expression builder. I have to create a new report.
Any help would be appreciated on this problem.
