Accepting payment for invoices online

I would like to accept payments via our website for due invoices. I guess I would need a merchant account and payment gateway. Is that all I need? I would like to just use simple html to send to the payment gateway.

Any recomendations for cheap ones?

Yes - that would be it. Most gateways provide the SSL for you to use to pass the credit card thru. And it is fairly easy to set up. I use one company that uses basic HTML to pass the parameters over to a co-branded page to collect the payment information.
