I set up a Windows 2000 Server to Accept Incoming Connections.

I have the end users dial in.

It's not even a domain logon. Just a workgroup set up.
XP and 2000 pro clients dial in just fine.

Win 98 pcs give me problems. After the dialing noises finish the Windows Network logon prompt pops up and asks for Username, Password and Domain.
I am sure the passwords are correct. The accounts are created on the server.

The error in the Win2K server event viewer says:

The user (username) failed an authentication attempt due to the following reason. The current configuration only supports local user accounts.

Thanks for your help in Advance.

ah check your services you might have to enable wins for windows internet name services windows 98 uses wins for name resolutiion , being that windows 2000 and windows xp work off of dns they wont have a problem ! Ihave yet to play around with windows 98 clients dialing in but yet to have a problem with 2000 or windows xp !
Wins might need to be added to the server for pre windows 2000 clients !
