Am new user of Linux server, and need to know how to configure the server to accept incoming connections, I installed mysql, php. Perl, and apache, and I can test my projects in the LAN, but I need to dial in the server from home via modem to test my projects.
Thanks in advance.

If your server doesn't have an external IP (reachable from the outside world) then you need to have your router forward http calls (port 80) to your internal IP (192.168.X.X). If your internal IPs are assigned via DHCP then it will have to forward these calls using your machine name (some routers can't do that). If you're the persone in charge of the network, then you might take a small block of numbers out of the pool that the DHCP server uses. Let's say your router is 192.168.0.1 and you want some additional static IPs. You could set the pool range from 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.254. You shouldn't have to change anything on the server since it already seems to be working on the local network. You just need to point outside trafic to it.

Thank you RhythmAce for your answer, my server doesn't have an external IP and I need to have my router forward http calls as you say. My question was how to configure the network connection? In windows I was setting up the computer so that other computers can connect to it by choosing: “Accept incoming connections” then I selected the device” Modem” my computer uses to accept incoming connections.
Now how to do that in my Linux box?
Thank you for your help.
