Hey people...

I have a client who is using ACAD 2000i and he has one
licence for it. The problem is that he also has a laptop
and wants to use CAD on it when he is away from his PC.
I know that there is a way to transfer the licence from
one PC to another when you like via floppy disk....
does anyone know how to do this..???
I know the hardware dongle for previous versions was a
pain but it was dam useful for this type of thing!!!!!

any help would be great

thanks

I have never seen a hardware dongle for AutoCAD. I am not sure why AutoCAD can not be installed on both computers, directly from disk. I believe that the software is licensed per user, such that a user can install the application on more than one computer, as long as that user is the only one that uses these computers and only one is used at any given time. As long as they are following the Autodesk license agreement (which they should), I would contact their AutoCAD supplier to have this question answered. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

ahh...sorry Dsi, there was a bit of a mix up, I live in
Ireland, and the European versions of ACAD have a hardware
lock that you have to insert into your printer port, the
software wont work wothout it plugged in, and you only get
one per licence, so you can see how it works....now in
ACAD2000i, they have changed it for us so there is no dongle
and it is software locked.!!!!
And I have figured out how to do it..!! there is a program
that comes with CAD called "Portalbe Licence Utility", it
allows you to take the licence off one PC, save it to floppy
disk and take it to another PC and import it using the same
program!! pretty nifty little program!!
so thanks for you help anyway!!
