AC'97 audio controller, sound too fast :-(

Gents

Need advise. Have Intel D815EFV motherboard w/ integrated
audio. Audio controller Intel 82801BA(M) ICH2 AC'97.
Win2K, SP3. Problem is that sound playing too fast.
The only Intel advise, re-install OS and load drivers from
Intel's chipset utility. I did, everything was OK for
few months. Now again same :-(.
Are there any workarounds instead reinstallin OS?

Use a sound card. Onboard sound is spotty at best. That goes double for the AC97.

What does it mean too fast?
What software are you using when it happens?

Have you tried reinstalling the audio driver?
