I am a programmer and have tried HARD to RTFM about sendmail but have come out more confused than before...

I have a server with the name dsl-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx.zen.co.uk and also have a no-ip domain pointing at it (lets say bla.bounceme.net)

I want this server to send and receive email for bla.bounceme.net and be able to send email from my other machines (all have public static IP's) and I know I will need a pop server but one step at a time...

I know you all will see this as V simple but I think once I start getting my head around the basics I might start liking this sendmail malarkley :)

p.s. I am using sendmail 8.12.7

Cheers for any advice

I don't think you can get e-mail to work with a setup like that. You have a subdomain of another domain. You would need access to the domain's dns servers so you can create a couple records. For about $8.00 a year, you can get your own domain name at

ok then...

Is there a way for me to config sendmail so that I can use php to send out through it (as a true MTU or using my ISPs SMTP server).

On most distros, sendmail is setup already to send mail out using your isp mail server. It gets this info from the network configs. If you want your server to collect mail from all your pop3 accounts on the internet, you can use a program called Fetchmail.
