ok, here the lowdown.....

i try set up nt4.0 on this proliant 800. i decided to start from scratch. so i apply system erase....no problem.

on restarting smartstart, i get the error message that no physical or logical disks were detected.....problem

i'm told to run the sytem erase utility again...so again i run it and then, on boot up i see after checking scsi devices, the message no scsi devices detected or fail ....more problem

figured that my array was not detected, so downloaded options rompaq ( full release, among other utilities) from the compaq site, however whe i try to create the bootable diskettes, i get the message " program too big to fit in memory"...and this is from a 256mb 1600 proliant.....

must confess that though it's a wee bit frustrating, i'm kinda enjoying it - i'm learning....

so, what gives? anyone out there enthusiatic enough to throw a flashlight my way?

thanks

Ignoring anything to do with OS's;

when you cold start the machine does the scsi controller see any scsi devices? if it does, are the id's what you expect them to be?

What controller are you using for the "array"?
the 800 did not come with a raid controller by default?
You may need to select which controller is designated as the boot controller.
