Some of our users (in fact, lots of them today) have been getting an issue with our .vbs logon script not running at all (or partly running then quitting out at a point where it reads in a .txt file from the NetLogon share).

Both local DCs are up and running, have loads of free RAM and no issues with processes hogging the CPU yet the symptoms suggest a timeout occurring..

So, does anyone know of a way to force CScript to be more persistent or suggest what may be causing the timeout problem?

Do your login scripts have On Error Resume Next near the top of the script?

No, but it's dotted around depending on how I wanted it to behave (I think, I'm at home now, but I'll check tomorrow).

I think I see where you're going with this, test if an error occurs then try again, right?

It's a sound approach but I think we need to know why the issue is happening in the first place when it's been fine for months.

Where I was going is that you need to identify exactly what is causing the error and On Error Resume Next will often mask the cause of errors.

well you could also do a 'netstat' just to check and make sure you don't have an obsene amount of network connections.

I know one of the lines on which error occurs. It's an OpenTextFile method. But sometimes it doesn't even get that far so I reckon it's not a scripting issue as such.

I'll give that a go.
