After ontape-r the system go to Fast Recovery and then in Quiescent mode. Why must go through Fast Recovery ?
And then it's necessary to go online (with onmode -m) and then onmode -ky or is good onmode -ky directly ?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

It is mandatory for a database server to go in a "state" called Fast Recovery, whenever the server mode is changed from off-line to on-line or from quiescent to on-line. It is an automatic, fault-tolerant and self diagnosing activity. Restoration process also puts the database server into Fast Recovery mode.

Fast Recovery mode restores physical and logical consistency after any failure that results in the loss of memory contents if any. Once the database server comes into Quiescent mode you may use onmode -m to get into multi-user mode or you may bounce (shutdown and up) the database engine directly without exposing the dbserver into risk.

I use a second server only for Backup. I need to go in offline mode. It's necessary to go online (with onmode -m) and then onmode -ky or is good onmode -ky directly ?
