I am getting the message "updating configuration files, please wait" when I turn on my computer. I am using Zonealarm and Spybot and Adware, but I still get these messages. I haven't loaded anything new on my computer.
Should I be worried?

Sounds to me like you have some software set up with the option of checking for file updates.

I think SPYBOT and ADAWARE have the ability to set up an option to check for file updates on Bootup - you may want to check that out.

Thanks, I will look into that. I do have some things that will look for a update, but I think that that zonealrm notifies me when it looks on the internet for update, and I don't think that the looking for updates happens the time before I shutdown. Hmmm... right when I was talking Zonealarm poped a alert saying that Microsoft Autoupdate was trying to access the internet. But is says that the application is WUAUBOOT.EXE. I clicked 'Deny". That looks suspicious to me. Am I getting paranoid?

Google found this at .
Process File: wuauboot or wuauboot.exe
Process Name: Post Boot Auto-Updater for WindowsME

Description:
WUAUBoot.exe is process managing automatic updates for Windows. The process check for online updates after boot-up.

Author: Microsoft Corp.
Part Of: Microsoft Windows
So that would seem to be OK.
However, just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you
