able to ping domain/ip but cannot bring up website in ie/ff

ok heres the situation... this computer is running windows xp and i can ping domain names and ip addresses, even telnet to port 80 and receive data from there, but when i try to go to websites using ie or firefox it doesnt bring them up. i have done many searches and tried many things but unable to get it working. i have ran WinsockxpFix.exe and LSPFix.exe. Also if i boot into safe mode i am able to load up web pages with both ie and firefox! but not in "normal" mode. i did a scan with mcafee and did not find anything. here is a copy of my hijackthis log. any help would be super greatly appreciated!

If you can download from the Internet on another machine, and then copy the programs to this machine, try these first:

Update all the programs, then make sure all protections are up to date, then do a scan with all but SpywareBlaster (only run one scanner at a time).

Reboot

Then see if the problem still exists. Either way, post a new Hijack This log to see if anyone sees any specific issues - I haven't taken the full time to read the whole thing.

As much stuff as mcafee seems to have taken over, my guess would be mcafee stopping it. Try disabling mcafee and see if you are able to surf. Your logfile is clean.
