Got an ABIT motherboard a few months back and ever since, been experiencing problems with lockups in mostly my games (some moreso than others) and also with Windows itself.

Then a few weeks ago, I was updating my chipset drivers for the board with the newest ones off the official site, and now my computer shuts down to what appears to be hibernation mode. You have to hit the reset button to bootup again. This is occuring with greater frequency lately. It happens randomly and without warning.

Now with Windows XP installed on another partition, these problems have exploded 2- fold. UT 2003 simply shuts down my computer as soon as you get to the menu and also as well in windows. Lockups are plaguing the system too.

If this was only RECENTLY happening in XP , then I would just assume it was an issue with that OS but this has been going on for months now, with no help from the tech support of both ABIT or ATI staff.

My own brother, who works in Networking, seems baffled by this events and his co-workers (most of whom are avid gamers themselves) have no explanations.

My specs: Quantum Fireball Hard drive
: ABIT SD7-533 motherboard with SiS 645 chipset
: ATI Radeon 8500LE with latest drivers for both Win98 and XP
: Latest drivers for motherboard
: Samsung 750s monitor
: Sony CD-Rom and Burner
: SB Live Value card with last driver set
: PCI fan blowing unto video card
: 256 DDR Crucial memory card

If anyone can provide some info or links or any other helpful tips, this would be greatly help me. Thanks for your time.

P.S. Games run much smoother under XP, when the OS is actually stable, that is.
