Firstly I'm new to this so please be patient...
I've got an abit KD7-G mobo, with a AMD2800+ 333FSB Barton CPU. All very wizzy, wizzy using 512MB of PC2100 RAM....or so I was planning/thinking.
However, the damn thing wont do anything other than use the default settings of 1250Mhz. So as soon as I go into the CPUIII soft menu, and start to ramp up the CPU speed, it dies after a reboot....and won't then play along until I reset the cmos.....back to defaults.

I've upgraded the BIOS to the latest version using flash menu, which works well IMHO...

Any ideas?? I've tried most things I know and am happy that the mobo must be OK, and that the CPU isn't knact....both fresh out the box.

Ta,
D

Had same problem and solution is simple. Check jumper on the board is not set to a fixed 100Mhz if ok the Bios FSB is probably set at 100Mhz change this to 166Mhz. This figure is double whatever it says so 100Mhz = 200FSB and 166Mhz = 333FSB. Changing the FSB in the Bios will report on post the correct CPU rating. It does not tell you this in the manual. Your CPU is OK
