On a book jacket artwork where I need to show the spine folds, I have been trying to figure out how to make dotted fold marks I have run through the document (as Quark does) and then be able to make these print with the reg marks for proofing etc. can InDesign do this - I'm sure it can but any help would be greatly received.

Several ways

Create guides and check the "print visible guides" in the print window for the proof.

Create the lines on a new layer and print the proof. For final, dump that layer, hide it, use layer options, etc.

Draw the lines. When proof approved, opent he attributes window, select the lines and make them non printing in attributes.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

How I do it, is set up you document to the exact trims,
Drag bleed outsude the document area 5mm add fold marks to the ducument using a .25 rule and registration swatch.

Then when you go to print it, in the print window turn your trim marks on, offset them 5mm, then turn your bleed on and set it for 10mm this will pickup you fold marks which should be between the 5mm and 10mm bleed
