Client has an IPO 500 system with a PBX at each location and one at the call center. Due to Telco shenanigans, the forwarding had to be removed and the calls are now being handled by the local PBXs. Each PBX has the basic 4 VCMs. What happens if all local VCMs are in use and someone calls into the local PBX? Does the call get dropped?

4 VCM's? what manner of IPO 500 is this?

And FWIW, there far too little detail is your post for anyone to remotely attempt to help you.

What more information do you need? If I have 4 VCMs on a PBX and they are all in use, what happens when someone needs to use one? Does the call wait for an open license? Does it disconnect?

Do you mean 4 voice networking channels which link the systems together.

Or voice compression modules..usually come in 32 or 64..
Combo card gives 10 VCM.

VCM Channels are Voice Compression Modules, which enable use of IP phones on your IP Office system. It is used for VoIP calls, IP networking and SIP trunks. The actual number of channels provided is controlled by the VCM Channels licenses within your IP Office. IP Office, VMC’s come as 10 on the Combo Card, or as separate cards 32 and 64.

Hope this helps

The use of private voice networking trunks between IP500 control units and other systems requires voice networking channel licenses within the IP500. This applies to H323 IP trunks configured on the IP500 including IP trunks being used for an IP Office Small Community Network (SCN). A voice networking license is also required for the use of trunks configured to for QSIG operation. On H323 IP trunk, a license instance is consumed for each simultaneous outgoing call (incoming calls do NOT consume a license). On QSIG trunk, the number of calls is limited by the trunk type rather than available licenses.

Thanks Snowman, but what I need to know is what happens to calls when a unit has all of it's licenses in use?

Let's say you have an AA. Caller goes into queue and when he comes up in the queue, and the local PBX is out of licenses, does the caller stay in queue until a license comes open?

Now I am getting confused

Are you now referring to voicemail port licences. For call queuing using AA.

Is this embedded or voicemail pro..queued and still queued.

If there are no ports available the incoming call rings until a port becomes available to play the announcements.

You really need to supply more information on your systems ,voicemail type

No, I am referring to the Voice Networking Channels, not the VM ports. The calls are incoming to a local PBX, so the AA plays on that PBX. The group that the AA rings to is on another PBX at the call center. If all of the local PBX Voice Networking Channels are in use when the call needs to go to the call center's PBX, what happens to the call in the queue?

The call will not be in queue when it's transfered from AA so it will most likely be disconnected if there are no free channels to transfer the call over the SCN trunk.

You could try pointing it to a local group with with an overflow to the SCN group, have a logged out user in the local group. I have seen times when the overflow target was unavailable it would continue to ring at the original until the secondary target became available. Having not test this particular application I won't guarantee it will work. The best solution would be more channels.

I just needed to make sure I was right about how that worked so I could make the case to purchase a few more Voice Networking Channels.
