Because of some other requirements, users need to enter all 11 digits of their cell phone in the /user "Reach Me" page. This is the user page that you add/edit your mailbox settings.

Many carriers can accept all 11 digits @ theirmaildomain.com

AT&T does not - it can only accept the 10 digit number. However, the /user page still needs to require 11 digits.

Is there an Address Template character that says "delete the leading digit 1"

Are you using Avaya store, Exchnage store or mixed ?

Avaya only - there is no Exchange in the mix.

So, I have to enter the number on the voicemail/user General page line this:

Mobile Phone or Pager
Use this mobile phone or pager for "Notify Me" and other features: 14145551212

In the Mobile Operators page, I am trying things like this

{0000000000}@txt.att.net
{-1}@txt.att.net
-1{0}@txt.att.net

So far none of those work

I'll see if i can find anything but in the mean time you can just add the {0000000000}@txt.att.net in to the voice email notification field and it will send it.

Yes, thank you - that does work.

I believe the 11 digit rule is a result of rules on "how to enter your Personal attendant/assistant". Because we are a mix of Avaya and Nortel, we had to develop a consistent rule for entering your Attendant - and the rule is "must be 11 digits". It seems that rule also applies to the Cell Phone Number field.

We published some instructions that said "put your 11 digit cell phone here" - and since then realized ATT can only take the 10 digits. I think Verizon is the same issue.

There must be an an operator that deletes the first digit - because ALL cell phone providers can SMS to the 10 digit number

You can always have the network guys put a rile in place to remove the 1 when it sees a att.com in the domain name.

An update on this. It was escalated to Avaya. The response right now is "it will be fixed in 6.3". I believe the fix will be in the dialing rules. I do not have every detail, but I am guessing the dialing rules for Personal Assistant/Zero Out are being applied to the field for your cell phone number. If they separate the dialing rules for Zero Out from the Cell Phone, that might solve the problem we have.

We have had to settle on "11 digits in your personal attendant" field. Our three large Nortel systems are 7 digit extensions (three Hospital sites with 1200 to 3000 stations); Our Avaya CM sites (deployed in clinics from 20 to 300 stations) are 11 digit with 7 digit short codes. The goal is to have a seven digit dial plan from any site to any site.

In our 7 digit dial plan we defined 100nnnn to 119nnnn as non-DIDs (each site having a specific contiguous range), then the DID NXX+nnnn for DID numbers. At this point, we do not have any duplicates across NPAs.

Are you using a session or system manager at the site ?
