Is it a few users or all users?
You can check the users mailbox capacity under administration->Reports. Enter a capacity percentage.
You will wnat to have your users clear out their voicemail, you could possibly be running out of space.
Has anything on exchange changed? Permissions maybe?
If you got to Administration-> Dignostics, you can test your connection to exchange.

It sounds to me like the AAM is being blocked by the customers network in some way.

When you say they "stopped getting email from the VM" do you mean as a notifyme or to there corp email address ?

It sounds like they are using the Avaya message store and if that is the case then the mail relay may have changed on the customer side.
So it will need to be updated on the AAM side.

This would be the customers fault for not letting someone know.

You need to look in the SMTP / postscript logs to see what is happening to the emails. You can also use the test mail to send mail
