Does aaa authentication command need to be entered into a 2960 switch if I am just using the local database? I have switches that a consultant put in that has these commands entered in and I not sure if it is needed.
aaa new-model
aaa authentication login default local
aaa authorization exec default local

Thanks for your help...

If there is something else that requires AAA, like a VPN or something. Otherwise, no, it is not needed. Then again, it's not hurting anything, so I would just leave it alone.
