I have a Partner ACS 7.0 with a Partner VS 5.0 voice mail system.
5 lines and about 23 stations. All works well but I discovered a situation today that has me wondering.
A call comes in from one of the lines and is answered by the Auto Attnd..When the caller dials an extension number that has voice mail, and the extension has their "Do Not Disturb" button activated, the incoming caller goes to Ext 10 [ default ] and then is answered by a live person at ext 10.
I have read some documentation and it states that this is the way it's meant to work.
The station users want the outside caller to go to their voice mail instead of Px 10... like when a inside caller dials another station and the station has activated the DND button it goes directly to voice mail. Is there a work around for this or is it just the nature of the beast.

Log into the System Administrator's mailbox, and instead of pressing 9 for programming, press 7 to find out the exact version of your R5 VS mail.

If it is less than R5.0.11 you'll need to apply the patch that is available on the Avaya support site (which means purchasing a linear flash card and software to load the patch onto the card) OR just don't use DND when the Auto Attendant is answering.

By the way, the problem is that the VS mail is getting mode codes that it doesn't understand. So it is not really transferring to Ext. 10, it is "Transferring to Receptionist", which is the default action when it doesn't know how to handle a call. For even more fun, put Ext. 10 in DND as well, and you will lock the call into an endless loop.

Thanks...A star for both of you...As expected, it is the " nature of the Beast

We are a Release 5.015..We will live with the DND situation as it is... however, we are running with only 2 voice ports today.....[ no license & backup & restore card ]

We would like to bump the system up to 4-ports...Since we are a release 5.015, If I purchase a Partner VS 5 4-port backup & restore card to increase my ports, can I expect it to function ok .....Should I look for a special version/release of the 4-port card in order for it to match my .015 system ?
Thanks

the port card is only the number of ports they work on all sub releases, you still need to upgrade the firmware on the voicemail, you could also just call a local Avaya dealer and ask them what they would charge for an upgrade to the proper release, I used 5.0.17 and that worked with the DND. It might be a lot cheaper then buying the linear Flash card and the software (about $500 together).
There are some good people here in this forum that could also do it for you if you post your approximate location and maybe your e-mail (write it out instead of posting the correct link with name AT whatever DOT com to avoid spam) I am sure someone can help you with it for a good price.

Westi...Just so I understand correctly..If I do not do the upgrade of the firmware, can I still just get a 4-port license card and expect it to work with my .015 firmware?
Thanks

Yes it will work just the same way your 2 port is working. The port card is just the number of ports.
